About EYN Church
Who We Are
Our Identity
EYN (Ekklisiyar Yan'uwa a Nigeria) - Church of the Brethren in Nigeria, is an indigenous African church that grew out of the mission work of the Church of the Brethren USA starting in 1923.
We are a community of believers committed to continuing the work of Jesus Christ peacefully, simply, and together through discipleship, worship, service, and evangelism.
Our Character
As part of the historic peace churches, we emphasize peacemaking, reconciliation, and simple living. We practice believer's baptism by immersion and follow the teachings of Jesus in the Sermon on the Mount.
Our church is organized into districts and local congregations across Nigeria, with headquarters in Kwarhi, Adamawa State.
Our Mission
To proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ to all people, making disciples who worship God in spirit and truth, serve humanity with love and compassion, and work for peace and justice in the world.
Our Vision
To be a vibrant, self-sustaining church that transforms communities through Christ-centered ministry, holistic development, and prophetic witness, becoming a beacon of hope and reconciliation in Nigeria and beyond.
Statement of Faith
- God the Father We believe in one God, the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth, and of all things visible and invisible.
- Jesus Christ We believe in Jesus Christ, God's only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried.
- The Holy Spirit We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord and giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son, who with the Father and the Son is worshiped and glorified.
- The Church We believe in one holy universal Christian church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting.
- The Bible We believe the Bible is the inspired Word of God and the final authority for faith and practice.
- Peace and Reconciliation We believe in following Jesus' way of peace, loving our enemies, and working for reconciliation in all relationships.
